The Handicap System
The Barbados Golf Association uses the USGA Handicap System™. This enables golfers of all skill levels to compete on an equitable basis. To find out more about the handicap system, please visit The USGA Handicap Manual. The handicap manual will help golfers understand why having a Handicap Index® is important. There are links to the USGA’s handicapping equivalent of “The Rules of Golf”, and a Course Handicap™ calculator to allow players to convert their Handicap Index to the Course Handicap for any course that has been properly rated. You can view your handicap index from anywhere in the world, once you have access to the Internet. To view your USGA Handicap Index, along with the last 20 scores used to calculate that Handicap Index®, go to http://www.ghin.com/lookup.aspx. Enter your GHIN number, if you do not have your number, select “Name & State”, select Foreign from the list of states, enter your full last name and partial first name. The handicap index is revised every two weeks, on the 1st & 15th of every month. The BGA will maintain your handicap once you are a member of the Association, a scorecard drop-box is available to you at the BGC next to the Bag-drop.
